Default Help moving to Victoria

My wife and I are looking at emigrating to Oz, ideally Victoria. I have over 13 years experience working with people with learning difficulties, mental health and challenging behaviour. I have been advised to contact employers direct and apply for jobs to get my visa. Is this something that’s the norm and how successful is it.

Have you checked the DIAC website to see if you might be eligible for a visa?

I have tried to get a Visa through the visa bureau, but the qualifications I have are not enough. They advised me to apply to companies to sponsor me

Yes, but have you checked the DIAC website for visa requirements?

No not really the normal approach, this is the getting desperate, having exhausted other options approach.

You cannot get a visa through the "visa bureau" either, they are just one of many agents, you only get visas from department of immigration.

Even with employer sponsorship, your occupation needs to be on the occupations list, have you checked the lit yet?

Are you a psychologist? Nurse? Teacher? Social worker? If so you have more chance of a visa than someone who is unqualified but experienced. I doubt you are going to get a sponsor TBH because the conditions for sponsorship are becoming increasingly rigorous and they have o demonstrate that they couldn't get an Aussie to fill the position. Perhaps you need to reconsider qualifications before anything else
