Default help with migration

hi
we would like to migrate to oz,we are from the uk. my wife and i are both 51 and our two children aged 30 and 28.we have never been to oz, but kids have.we tried the points test on line and failed due to age,but been told their are 100 different ways to get in.
is this correct??? if so,does anyone know the best way for our family.my son and i are builders, daughter an estate agent, and my wife in retail.next month the four of us are going to oz for a 3 months holiday to tour nsw in a mobile home.if any one can help we would like to know :
is it best to apply before we go or whilst were there.
if its true there are 100 different ways to get in,how do we find which one would suit our family?
we will have the proceeds from the sale of our family home to set us up
thanks for any help you can give us

Hi lak, think about a business visa as your age rules you out of the skilled migration, check out www.immi.gov.au this should give you more insight into bus. visa's.
enjoy your hoilday, tip: you wont want to come home!

Your son could go as skilled independent, but he would have to specify a trade ie; bricklayer - that's what my other half did, he does all sorts but he did his apprenticeship as a bricklayer - there is not a catergory for builder - the only thing is he has been self employed for 7 years as a general builder, but because of experience he has had to prove he was only doing bricklaying!! Your daughter could possibly go linked with estate agents experience - you'd have to check it out with an agent - they are very useful and can tell you all the options - they cost, but are invaluable.

You and your wife could possibly go on retirement visas which will let you stay 4 years, but if your son and daughter get in, they could then sponsor you while you are out there - you will not get in altogether (ie as a family) as your kids are classed as independent adults. I may be wrong, but I would advise getting an agent.

Good luck

Hi, Unfortunately in the eyes of immigration you can't apply as a family. As your kids are over 18 they have to apply separately based on their own skills, age etc.

You should look at each applicant independently and assess who has the best chance of getting in as skilled independant, who can then after 2 years sponsor the rest. You might then qualify as 'aged parents' (god forbid!)

Consult a migration agent for advice. Good luck and enjoy your holiday.
