ok!
so how do i do it, properly, so it look the best then??
Bloomin' 'eck! Where to start...?

Once the slab (and the rest of the wood) has seasoned it needs to be sliced to approximate size. (Planning the table in detail would be good BEFORE cutting!) This is a specialist job, as is the woodwork to follow.

Then the wood is planed to exact sizes, and worked.

I would suggest that you sub-contract the work to master craftsmen. They'll charge - quite a lot - but the end result will be unique.

I'd love to take on a job like that, but can't. I don't have the necessary tools, here, and wouldn't trust myself to do a good enough job.

I will say one thing - this is a chance in a lifetime. The odds against you getting another slab like this are very high.

"If life hands you a lemon, make lemonade!"

[P.S. that's a point - put some of the rest of the wood with the slab (separated by planks) and season it all together. A complete table made from the same wood will be worth a bloody fortune!
Bugga, wish you'd told us that before the splitter came

If I coulda, I woulda! Never mind - it'll be a job and a half getting just the one done. (Pretty please) send me photos when it's finished. I have had a look through my property, and haven't got a tree that size (and would be loathe to chop it down just for wood...) so I'm really interested in seeing how yours comes out.

Lift the shed off. Put the slab in place. Put the shed back. What's the problem?

BTW, I've seen tables here in Sydney which are recycled floorboards, (i.e. joined together to form a top, NOT a single slab) going for $7K and UP. That slab, properly seasoned, prepared and supported on a well made base, will fetch $10K without even trying. :lecture:

P.S. that's a point - put some of the rest of the wood with the slab (separated by planks) and season it all together. A complete table made from the same wood will be worth a bloody fortune!

That is the Burl.....here tables are made from it, also clocks and all sorts of stuff...thay cost a fortune to buy but look beautiful when done....that tree would cost a fortune here. if you have talent working with that wood you would have a really good business........ it's a shame they have a lot of money there.......
