Hi Danny, wonder if you could give me some advice. My partner has just been offered a job with Mercer stainless in Christchurch. We are just starting the process of looking for rental property, ideally we would like to be situated close to a Catholic Primary school (boys and girls) and within an hours drive of work ie Mercers at Riccarton. Any suggestions as to which suburbs to consider would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkshire lass.

Rental Costs Tip

The majority of rental properties in New Zealand are unfurnished with items in them such as an oven, laundry facility, curtains and carpet. If an advertisement for a rental property states it has white ware this normally refers to such items as a fridge, freezer, washing machine and a dryer.

The below is a list of the approximate average rental price (for previous 6 months) for a standard unfurnished 3 bedroom house in NZ dollars.

Christchurch Riccarton NZ$262.00
Christchurch Central NZ$271.00
Christchurch Papanui NZ$294.00

I live in Christchurch Central (Armagh Street) as it is the best location for us. There is however there is a Catholic Primary school 5 mins walk called Cathedral Grammar it is a private school. another one could be Middleton Grange School

I do not have children and am not 100% sure they are Catholic however a good friend of mine takes his children to Cathedral Grammar and he says it is a great school.
