have been to quite a few wet weddings over the years - a couple in peoples gardens - they were better than the hot weddings for some reason they are the ones that I rememeber as being a blast:)

I'm all prepared, booked my spot under the gazebo near the patio heater

In that case I'll be right. it absolutely persisted down from dawn to dusk on my wedding day.

It didn't rain on my wedding day because it was so cold (Feb). When we went outside for pictures one of my bridesmaids burst into tears she was so cold. Luckily I got married in a hotel so everyone else headed for the bar.

yes heatings on here too. I must admit I found the storms of the other night quite beautiful in a scarey 'glad I'm inside' way. The damage wasn't too clever though.

Hi all,

Yep I have to agree, it is god damned cold her in York at the minute, no sun, just wet and windy and grey.

Our heating has been on for 2 days now, still cold

I personally am glad in one way as the weather in Tasmania is pretty cold too, so at least I wont be going from the warmth to the cold in 15 days time. Should feel right at home really. In fact it will probably be slightly warmer but with better views...........

Where has the summer gone?

Christine

I was lucky with my wedding. Day before temps topped 40. Not pleasant when all dressed up. The day itself was 25 although Sydney was a bit smokey from the Bush fires. A couple of days later temps were down to 16 (100 year record low for december) and raining hard.

Right now first rain for weeks.

Hey Pollyana clear something up for me - why do most Aus houses not have heating if it is uncomfortable in winter? Ed says he reckons it because it's not cold enough for long anough to make it worth it
 I can't think of anything worse than being too bloody cold.

Glad to hear I am missing nothing weather wise from good old York. Though we have the heating on every day here in Melbourne every day at the mo but it is the winter but not as cold as a York winter yet!!!!!!!!!

Jo

Christine where in York are you from? I am from Easingwold/Stillington but lived in Leeman Road for the last few years before I left

Yes, you... on the backrow :)

I know what you mean though, I take the p'ss out of my boyf at the moment because he was complaining of being cold. I do remember though last year wishing I had more layers.. having said that though, we'd all sit around being cold but windows would still be open and the sliding doors not shut properly!

Max, The Bloke says because its only cold for six or seven weeks of the year, so they don't think its worth it. I guess there is a little bit of logic in there somewhere, but I think it would still be worth having something! The houses - certainly here - are so thinly built that any heat there is goes stright out through the gaps and the thin walls. And Michelle is right there, they do seem incapable of closing doors and windows in winter (don't jump on me, I know I'm generalising. Yesterday all the windows were wide opne, plus both doors - which creates a draught right through the house. Meanwhile, Mr Aussie Bloke sits here in a thick fleece, zipped up to the neck, but refusing to shut the doors!

We have one of those louvre windows in the bathroom, you actually can'tclose it at all. The Bloke jams a bit of wood over it in the winter, not brilliant but it means the bathroom now isn't quite as cold as the garden! Bit dark in there though!!

Michelle, did you also find this thing about keeping all the curtains closed all day in case daylight gets in and fades the furniture?(God forbid!!). As a result you spend all day in darkness or in aritificial light!
