Re: Having your own business
Within the next 5 years I am intending to open a small bakery/coffee shop near our new house. I know there are literally thousands of them around but what I intend is different to what's already out there - more of what fellow Canadians would know as a "Horton's style" shop. Limited take out baked goods and cheap, quick take away coffee. No fancy half-caf double shot latte with a shake of cinnamon crap. Just coffee.

Ran my own same day logistics business in the UK for over ten years. It was hard hard work and comes with a hell of a lot of stress.
But if you can make it suceed its very rewarding. For me personally though I was glad to get out of it, it took over my life and nearly cost me my marriage and family, buy hey we did pretty good financially out of it so I am now able to say I own more than one property and mortgage free.
What are you planning to do?

When I was over in December I bought 2 of the Christmas mugs. They're the large take out cups only in china. It was my husband's favourite gift this year.

I own a retail business (Newsagency) after owning the same in UK. Australia is much more small business friendly (in retail) but highly competitive than in the Tesco / Wal Mart dominated mother country.
Do research, find a suitable sector you are happy with, find the right position and with hard work you will prosper.
