Its not an unreasonable question - I have concerns myself - not much point getting that dreamed of pool if its empty! However its not enough to stop me going - might just consider rain tanks, bore water and dams etc (I realise that some of these options are no good in the short term without rain!) when buying a property.

We were in Brisbane 4 years ago and the locals were all concerned about the rapidly incraesing population and the lack of infrastructure such as water etc. If these issues will make you unhappy then it really is worth looking around - parts of Brisbane are on different restriction levels.

Your totaly correct, this forum is full of moans and worrie about small little issues like tomato sauce(crap nonsense) and your wory is more valid.

I am scared about my move to Australia nevermind just Brisbane, the entire country is in drought at the moment and no-one seems to be takling the issue directly but doing lots of talking. They need to act on the big ideas rather than sitting waiting for another tropical cyclone to fill the dams.

You should look at Redlandshire, the Cleveland Ormiston areas, the water there is from Stradbrooke Island and the dam there is sitting about 75%

Yes I think we need to look into specific areas more. I think there are things to can live without when you are planning your move. I have to say I think that list is quite long but water just aint one of them! Also Im all up for a challenge but we are considering moving for a good quality of life really not necessarily because we want a challenge and that vision of a good life doesnt include filling buckets at some water standpoint (if thats what its called!), a cracked dried up withered garden, a pool that we cannot fill and a shower once in a blue moon. Perhaps that is being extreme but Im not sure.

The only reason there is a water shortage is because there are too many immigrants coming here and using it. Stay at home and don't make it worse.

Blimey i must be really old then
coz i remember when we had standpipes at the end of the road and the gardens all cracked up and topping up a swimming pool (we had to ask what a swimming pool was)
and that was in jolly ole UK!!!






and it wasn't really that long ago, summer of 76 was one of them, but if my memory is serving me correctly i do believe thats happened a few times since then too!!!!!

don't knock the love of M&S pants! Ahhh if only I could buy decent smalls! Anyway back to point in hand, I think this is a very genuine and reasonable concern. If I were thinking of moving to that area, its definately something I would take into consideration - rumour has it the situation is only ever going to get worst with the drought and the influx of people to the area.

I remember that, at the time we had 8 of us under the one roof, and the water limit was set per household not the amount of people init. I remember having a bath on Sunday night ready for school in the morning and getting out looking dirtier than before I got in :ohmy:
