just tried to get flights back to newcastle(uk) in august. $2900 is the cheapest that we can get. cant get any seats on any of the fares. tried going via everywhere but no joy. this will a $1000 more than when we went back 2 years ago. there was one for $2500 but flying into singapore with jetstar. the fare was thru qantas (jetstar now operate the cairns/singa route)so no peanuts, beer or entertainment. this we could have gone with but it is booked as a seperate flight so if it was late and we missed the flight to uk we would be stuffed. just another rort we think.
looks like ill be workin the weekend. gotta love livin in the arse end of nowhere.

Hi, no what you mean. we have just booked flights from Brisbane to Gatwick with Emirates, and despite shopping around all the various airlines, eventually found a good deal with Emirates. We had been keeping an eye on the dates we wanted and were happy to pay $2,135 each. We were just about to book it, and those prices were no longer available, went up to something ridiculous like about $4,000 each. Checked again on the Emirate site that evening, just on the off chance, and found the price had gone back down to $1,700, which we booked straightaway, and the following day it went back up to $2,400, so I wouldnt give up just yet, i would keep checking everyday, you may just be lucky.

The same thing happened to me, it seems the price varies daily. Just check often and be ready to book when that good deal comes along!
