Question Has anyone .........

Arrange the export of their pet to oz themselves?

Just been Qouted £2875 for my German shepard whom will be just under 2years old when we travel in Feb.
Then $800 for Quarantine
And £150 for vet bills.

I thought it would be a bout £3000. in all but this price seems quite steep as she is not fully grown yet.
This was with Heathrow oceanic.
Wot do you think guys how hard could it be to do yourself?
And how much would you actually saving?

Don't think you'd save anything... The Vets bills and quarantine you pay direct so there'd be nothing off them and the freight charge would definitely be discounted to the shipper because of the amount of business he hands out...

You can arrange the permit yourself here... AQIS Easy to do...

Then perhaps get alternative quotes from other shippers... We paid £2,250 for 2 Staffies to Pinehawk Kennels

Dont bother doing the export yourself. It doesnt actually work out any cheaper when I looked into it. We used www.airpets.co.uk in the end and frankly very glad we did when our vet managed to cock things up for the dog at the last minute and they rearranged flights, quarantine etc for us.

The UK may be different, but I looked into that from Ireland and spoke to a guy from Shannon Airport who told me that you now need an agent to book flights, etc. We used Ladyhaye and to be quite honest I don't know what we paid them for because I did 90% of the paperwork myself. All they really did was organise the flight and our dog's stopover in Heathrow. It would have been bloody cheaper for me to fly to Heathrow and do it myself, but there was no choice in the matter. All water under the bridge now....
