Does anyone know if there is a halifax bank or building society in Oz???

We have been told there is one if so where ?? What state, town etc.....

I think BankWest is owned by the Halifax-Bank of Scotland group:

However if you go into the average High Street branch and ask about this you are likely to get a lot of blank looks - talk to the bank's international office.
