Hi

My best friends dad lives and work there in one of the wineries. He loves it.

It is a fairly rural/small place (by city standards), good for outdoor type activities...fishing etc.

Property is well priced and people are friendly.

The only down side is although it is in NSW, to get down to Sydney is a hell of a drive (570 km)....ironic really that it is actually closer to Melbourne even though it is classed as NSW. ( still 450 km though)

I wouldn't say this is a hip and happening place, but if you like a slow place of life and are really looking for a total lifestyle change this could be the place for you.

Hope this helps

Ignore them!!!

At the end of the day, you are the one that needs to decide.

Can I ask, from a points issue do you/your partner need to have a job offer to qualify for a visa? If not there are certainly better places to go.

There are also lots of sponsorship opportunities at the moment in both victoria and western australia which may enable you to live closer to the cities/beaches.

What occupations would you be going under and I will have a look for you?

Thanks for that
You know its hard if enough as it is without someone being on here saying things like that you guys usually are so helpful in everything and anything that ive asked advise about,we have two small children and all the reasonable advise we get is gold dust to us all we want is a better quality of life for them and ourselves
No we dont need a job offer to qualify as my husband has a trade as a printer with 15 yrs experience the griffith thing came up as a guy over there has a printing buisiness and has offered my hubbie a job,but it seems the more we read about the place the more off putting it is,i dont think its a place we could settle in
Anything you could dig up would be fantastic and we really do appreciate it,thankyou so much

Hi Laura

Sounds like you wouldn't need sponsorship then so you would be free to go where you wanted, in which case I would say Griffith is not for you.

Have you done a points test yet? Does you husband get 120? If so you could apply for a 136 which allows you a free choice.

Have you ever been to OZ before? I would say that the major places/cities are gonna be your best bet for both lifestyle and schools....the further inland you go the less facilities you are going to get although property will be a lot cheaper.

In my experience sydney, melbourne and perth would be my choices....if you want an even more laid back lifestyle brisbane and the gold coast are great too.....fom a work point of view, the larger cities will have better opportunities also I would have thought.

Hi,

I'm a bit late to this as I have only just found it.

I live in Griffith and run a website that gives you information about why you would want to stay a few days longer if you are a tourist. It may give you a little more information to help you with your decision.

I came to Griffith 22 years ago, for a 6 month stay. I have found a home here and am happy with it.

There are British expats here who also love it and wouldn't move.

The distances to the major capitals can be a bugbear. But at the same time, it is that very distance that has made Griffith into a self sufficient, self sustaining place. There's lots to do, you just need to find it, and find a social circle that you will be happy with.

Lousco,

I'm too new here to be allowed to pm you. Have a look at my profile. It should be listed as my home page.

If you can't see it, let me know so I can post one more time and be allowed to pm
