Greatest Aussie? You Decide

You may recall that the BBC carried out a poll a few years ago to find the 'Greatest Briton', won by Winston of course! But who is the greatest Aussie and why? Discuss in not less than at least one sentence.

All views valid, except perhaps those who think Skippy or Bea from Prisoner Cell Block H.

Rolf Harris. He used to keep my family on their toes wondering what the painting actually was

Kylie Minogue. Or Danni Minogue. Either really. They were both pretty great. Danni was a bit better, she made me a cup of tea before I kicked her out. :D

Natalie Imbruglia wasn't too shabby either. :D

Cheers

I'd like to nominate James Harrison who, in 1856, invented the world's first (practical) refrigerator using vapour compression. Without him, there would never have been cold beer.

:D

That's two sentences, but it wouldn't scan properly as one. :p

The Bloke :D

although if I get the job I'm after this week, I may change that too "The nice man in charge of the interview panel"

-------------

On a more serious note - Charels Todd fascinates me - he was the man who worked on setting up the telegraph line between Adelaide and Darwin (The Singing Line by Alice Thompson is a brillliant book about him and his supportive wife. Also the early explorers like Sturt and Burke and Wills, and a favourite is Smithy - Charles Kingsford-Smith - one of the greatest aviators ever.
