Government Schools in Perth for Dyslexic kids?
Hi everyone
Does anyone know of any good schools in Perth, preferably around the Ocean Reef, Joondalup and surrounding areas that are good for dyslexic kids?
I don't mean especailly for dyslexic kids. But you know a good. reputable, caring school?
thanks

I do not have any first hand experience of state secondary schools, but I gather that they can be quite anonymous and kids can fall through the net.
OK for generally pulling the cohort in the right direction but not so hot at looking after individual needs.
As I said though, I have no first hand experience of state secondaries (but lots of experience of private secondaries!) so happy to stand corrected.
Call one of the schools and ask about their special needs provision - how many specialist staff does the school employ, is there a dedicated dept etc etc. Duncraig, Carine, Ocean Reef would be good starting points.
But I fear that you may have been spoilt in the UK where pots of cash have been thrown at SN.

Depends on your budget and your religion.
St Stephens Duncraig/Carramar will be good.
St Marys - Karruinyup (Girls) excellent
Hale (Wembley Downs) Boys will be excellent
Sacred Heart (Catholic) - Hillarys will be very good
Lake Joondalup (Baptist?) may be good
St Andrews Greek orthodox (Dianella) should be good
