This advice also applies to us expats trying to make arrangements or do research for back home. I often use www.google.ie when looking for stuff at home, the results on www.google.com.au are usually rubbish for that.

Yep, I make as much use of www.google.co.uk as ofwww.google.com.au Same applies with a few other sites like ebay - often get better results using www.ebay.co.uk rather than the worldwide option on the ebay.com.au site
