Default Good restaurant in Adelaide area

For treating the rellies we will be staying with. Anyone got any recommendations for somewhere serving a cut above everyday food, nice surroundings, not so posh as to be intimidating though? South of or central Adelaide more easy accessible so preferable.

Well......my favorite restaurant. so far, in the whole of Australia is in Adelaide. The Red Ochre on the river north of the city. Indigenous ingredients, not too pricey in my opinion ($150 for a 6 course with wines tasting menu). Yabbies, Lemon Myrtle, Bush Tomatoes..ect etc..all complimented with great wines!

Hadn't occurred to me to eat in an Indian restaurant when on holiday from the UK, but our guests might fancy it, you never know.

Some great ideas but happy to hear of any more......

First time I went to Adelaide I went here:
http://www.justcos.com.au/asp/home.aspx

Only because it was close to our hotel but it was a great restaurant and very friendly.

Why not? There are very few good "Australian" restaurants anywhere and the ones that do exist tend to be very expensive: most of the best affordable restaurants are Asian (including Indian) or European. Plus the very best of American (KFC, McDonalds, Hungry Jacks).

25 years ago you couldn't find a decent Indian restaurant in Adelaide, but thankfully that has changed.
