Hi, probably been asked a million times!Going out to validate in August, where should we stay to see some life?
Is it really cold, do we need to take lots of winter stuff?

Surfer's paradise, Main beach, Broadbeach are i think the most lively. But to be honest the Gold coast is all fantastic. Good luck.

Thanks for that, my wife isnt too keen on visiting in winter, looking at weather forecasts doesnt seem that bad. How cold does it get?
I am not bothered but its going to be our only holiday this year and I am trying to convince her its going to be warm (ish!)

Cool in the mornings and night but ok in the day. We were still going to the beach.

Nice weather in July... Very little (if any) rain. Cool in the morning, peaking to about a sunny 20-21 degrees, then getting cool again fairly quickly. Pitch dark by 5pm. Coldest is around 6.am, 8-10 degrees - still pleasant enough though.

By the terms "chilly" or "cool" at night, people mean ITS FREEZING!!! Its cold at night then and I've been seen heading back from the pub wearing coat, hat and jeans. During the day isnt so bad 21 and wont dip below 20, but its the wind thats cold too and it defo jeans and carry a track suit top weather.
Wait until you've been here a while - anything less than 25 seems cold lol.
As to seeing things. Depending on what you like there are the many theme parks which are worth a look if you like that sort of stuff, Australian Outback Spectacular dinner show, Surfers Paradise, head inland and go and have lunch at Mt Tambourine, head north for a few days and do the sushine coast as well.
Best thing to do = get a Lonely Planet travel book.
