I think if you want city life, NZ is not the answer, that is why i have struggled, I miss cities and people. But to bring up children, or for an outdoors life, I cannot recommend Hawkes Bay (city Napier - beautiful Art Deco...but size of a London suburb) enough. It is on the East coast midway. I just feel I have outgrown it.

It happens. I feel the same about Sydney now. I yearn for a super sized city like London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo etc these days. Sydney is comparatively small and parhochial.

Its funny you say that. I felt that way when I moved to Sydney from London. Now I feel its the right size. I guess you just get used to things.

I moved to Sydney from Leicester - It was good for a while, but now I think I really want to try that huge big city thing, even if it's just for a year. I may not like it, but it's definitely growing on me at the moment...

Sometimes I wonder for those who choose to emigrate, are we ever really happy if we weren't content in our home town? I don't know where I want to be anymore, definately not NZ, maybe London but not feasible with money and kids now so hoping Sunshine Coast is the answer. Sometimes I wish i could be like my friends who grew up in home town, married boy from school and live round the corner from their mums!!! ....or maybe not!! Maybe I am just a wanderer, but having kids makes that a difficult thing.
