Sorry if this has been posted before but I haven't been near my 'puter for more than a fortnight. Google announced on 1st April that they were going to start up a new free email service for anyone who wants to sign up. They promise oodles more storage space than the other main free providers such as Yahoo, MSN etc and less spam.
People thought it was an April Fool's Joke initially but they are deadly serious and they are going to start up later in the year (no exact rollout dates yet). Their research shows that emailing is the number one use of the internet and searching is number two. Having dominated number two in 5 or 6 short years they are obviously looking for growth elsewhere. For anyone who is interested you can sign up for further updates and find out more at:

I'm an increasingly indundated with spam Yahoo user, hence my interest. Catchy name too - just as Google has entered the language it won't be long before people are G rather than E mailing!
