Been saying on the news today that Julia Gillard is an atheist and a socialist - perfect qualities for a true red.

I was impressed she had the courage to say it actually, although not a fan of her politics at all.

I saw what you did just there . . . although I'm a little dissapointed as I thought the OP had some inside info on 'the cuffs matching the collar' . . .

Agreed. When I heard her say it I thought about damn time too. Nice and definite as well, none of this namby pamby hedging.

Perhaps instead of chasing the miners then she should be removing the tax exempt status of all those 'Religions'. They're run as businesses, so why not pay tax as businesses? :p

You'll be lucky. The churches are the richest corporations around, anywhere in the world.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I certainly won't miss KRudd's pious speeches from the steps of his church.

If it weren't for the Labor government's assault on the internet and free speech, I would say that she was almost worthy of my vote.

Why though? If a politician was to try and abide by Christian beliefs I would have thought they would be all the better for it... compassion for fellow man and all that stuff.

I'm not suggesting we would want some Yank, God bothering type, but I really can't see what the issue is, if a politician was to quietly follow a religion whilst in office.

She's only staying quiet cause really she's a Welsh Druid and doesn't want to be accused of witchcraft. :p

If she was religious then I would have no problem with her quietly following her beliefs. What I hate is politicians bringing god into stuff - Blair after turning catholic.

I don't believe in god but I can still do the compassion for fellow man and all that, not got anything to do with religion in my book, just decent human behaviour.
