Have found out the cost of getting a PO Box in Aus.

Per Annum:
$52 small box
£83 Medium box
$6 for 2 keys.

Have any of you set up a PO Box before you left the UK? The form that you fill in to apply for the box asks for an address. Would it be alright to put an English address?

We want to have a PO box before we leave so we can forward our mail etc. We don't know anyone in Aus so we can't give a temporary address out there.

Any ideas?

We set ours up with MBE. They have various offices over Brisbane. You can do photocopying there, access to internet, telephone calls etc.... We arranged it all over the net before we left the UK so that we had a forwarding address for our mail. It works well. It also means that all the paperwork you fill in when you get here you have a mail address too rather than giving temporary addresses whilst you find somewhere to settle.

We got one as soon as we arrived by going into a Post Shop (same as Post Office...)

The form asks for a permanent address, but we pointed out that if we had a permanant address we wouldn't need a P.O. box! So after a phone call to Head Office we were allowed to leave it blank.
