Good question Reese

Hi Steve

Still trying then... Any progress? Sorry I haven't been here a lot so I don't know if you have updated.

I am not a nurse though I work in a University (Glamorgan in UK) and I am a user of Oracle as OP talks about!

Re: Getting a job before moving

Hi, there is my first post here, but this thread caught my eye.

I'm a Canadian/Australian citizen. Currently live in Canada with my Aussie hubby and daughter. We will be moving back to Australia (Townsville to be exact).

I'm a registered nurse, I've got my nursing licence to work in Queensland and I don't need to be sponsored.

In March, I applied for a job I saw online. We happened to be going there on a holiday at that time, so an interview was set up for when I was there. I didn't get the job. Same job came up in August, I again applied with the SAME cover letter and resume and this time she wouldn't even consider me. Gave me a bunch of excuses on why my application didn't 'cut it'. So I have been left wondering if she was grasping for excuses because I wasn't living there, because she wouldn't be allowed to say that I can't be considered because I'm overseas. Otherwise, why did I get the interview the first time?

We're still in Canada and I am constantly looking for nursing jobs and applying, but I have often wondered if I'm being held back because I'm still in Canada. I have a feeling that if I was there I would probably get interviewed/hired pretty quickly. We are nervous to pick up and go with neither of us having a job lined up, but I think thats what we're going to have to do.
