Hi all
has anyone managed to get excess baggage allowance with emirates when they have already visited australia to activate their visa?
Reason I ask is that they are quering this as I went to oz 4 weeks ago to activate the visa and now I am moving there as a migrant in August, seems such a shame to not have that option.
They have said if I can find someone has visited australia to validate their visa and has then travelled with emirates and got this excess baggage they will re-consider. Please HELP as I am moving with my son and he so much wants to take his toys, the rest of our stuff will be comming by shipment when the house sells.
ANY HELP REALLY APPRECIATED

We visited Australia last week with Emirates, but because it was a return ticket they said we couldn't have extra luggage allowance.
We've already booked another flight with Emirates to move permanently in a few months time and they STILL won't give us extra allowance for that flight either because now our visas are already validatated!!!
Good luck!

You have no chance, If you have a return ticket or already have your visa scanned when you landed before they will not give you extra baggage, Sorry! We tryed but failed and shipped some clothes, move over in the summer, you only need your shorts! Pete

Have you considered using Excess Baggage (the company) to send some stuff out by air. Haven't actually done this yet, but the rates look quite reasonable.

I came out to Aus last year and validated my visa. I then bought a one way ticket from the U.K when I was emigrating for good.
Stupid me thought I'd be allowed the 40kg as I told them i was emigrating but at the airport it was a different story because I'd already been out there once.
Fortunatly for me my cases where around 33kg. The lady booking me in let me get away with it as she could see how distraught I was.
I too was with my 4 year olds. Its understandable to want to take things that they recognise as there own but you'll have to be selective.
