Question get a job or start a business?

Hi,

I have my own business at present, but I dont kow if I should start a new business in Oz, or just get a job. What I really need to know is; has anyone started their own business immediatly and if so, how did it go?

Thanks
Doub

tarset is an unknown quantity at this point
Default SIMILAR POSITION

I've just recently arrived in Sydney and looking for a business. I would prefer some sort of partnership, would this be of interest to you. I have funds and am fairly flexible as to what business I go into. What business were you in?

One of my mates who came over to Oz a year ago just started an IT business in Sydney. He has the advantage that he already had a few clients in the UK and despite being in Oz he gets a lot of work from them. He now pays his rent and few employees in aussie peso's and his income is in pounds sterling. So naturally he's doing very well indeed. The other great thing is that he is now able to sponsor himself and his girlfiend for visa purposes, so effectively they can stay as long as they choose. He had submit business plans and get a specialist to help him convince the immigration authorities that it was a genuine business but he tells me it was quite easy.

Ken,

I proberbly wont get the visa through until about August 03 and we were looking at maybe Brisbane to settle in (house prices in Sydney were a factor). At present I have a Signmaking business which I have just had an offer recieved on as a going concern. I like the idea of a partnership with somebody who may have a little more local knowledge than myself, but I guess that is dependant on location and timescale.

Regards

Mark
