Anybody give me some info?

Does an offer of employment have to come from an NZ employer?

I have an offer of continuing employment from my present (UK) employer which means me travelling back to UK at regular intervals. Does this qualify for 8 points?

Already own an apartment in Papamoa and keen to move.

Looks like it does - from the NZIS Operations manual:

G4.15 Relevant offer of employment

a. The number of points that may be awarded for a relevant offer of
employment is dependent on the General Skills category passmark at
the time the application is made*. Points are awarded for relevant
offers of employment as follows:

b. Principal applicants* must be awarded the number of points as
specified in a. above for an offer of employment in New Zealand if
that offer is:
i assessed as relevant to the qualification or work experience for
which points have been or may be awarded, and
ii for ongoing employment* with a single employer (see G4.15.15
below), or
iii for one or more contracts totalling at least 6 months, if the
principal applicant* has provided evidence of having had at least
two years of contract work, and...


I would definitely suggest you contact NZIS about this though.

Is the UK employer also registered to do business in NZ? (Usually the answer would be yes.) Can that office give you an offer of employment?
