My grandson is turning 18 next September and wants to come and visit for a year, earning a bit of money by picking up casual work.
We have given him all the relevant info for his visa and he is looking into this at the moment.
We have decided to buy him his flight ticket for his 18th birthday (saves buying something he doesn't really want) and would like to ask for any info on best prices and airlines to try.
Anybody bought a 12 month ticket? Any pitfalls to be aware of? Can you recommend any particular airline?
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Loz x

Maybe consider a round the world ticket...sometimes not much more than a return and generally fairly flexible with changes.
Something like this:

...not sure exactly what the T&Cs for this one are. I imagine it has at 12 months validity.

Maybe I am just getting old but 18 seems so young to be doing this type of thing. I feel somebody a few years older would get so much more out of the experience. Make sure your grandson knows that if he gets a WHV now he probably won't be able to get another one.

Hi i am coming to Australia on a WHV in October and got a one way flight with Emirates for £450 through STA Travel they were the cheapest i could find and the actual flight was £315 with £70 taxes it was only STA's charge of 86 that bumped it up. i also got a discount for being under 26 how much i dont know but i thought that was a pretty good price they seem to be the best for working holiday makers and students.
Wish i would have booked sooner end of October seems so far away!
