oh tesco hey.

Best place for fuel, use them vouchers u get when you shop, bought something like £200 worth of shopping (over a month or so), and basically i got a tanks worth of free fuel (around £110 worth)

if you dont like tesco, then i guess you'll either have to be ripped off by esso or make friends with bush and invade saudi arabia or summit lmao

mind you, hydrogen fuel should be coming out soon! i wonder what the price of tht would be like

with lower wages, further distances to travel, higher mortgage rates etc etc this makes a big difference I can tell you.

What goes up, must come down (just singing to myself)...

Wish things would come down.

UPDATE: British fuel strike means fuel is not only scarce, but could go up by 35-40p (around 80 cents)

Now with that in mind, where would you rather be? (surly Oz)

Two weeks ago I paid $1.69.9 cents a litre for diesel here in Canberra. The very next day I was in Whitecliffs (NW NSW) and I paid $1.70.

Whats that about then. Whitecliffs is miles from anywhere and I would have expected to pay a lot more (Haulage cost ect) than Canberra. Either Whitecliffs is cheap (considering the location) or Canberra residents are just getting ripped off big time by the fuel companies.

Fuel Watch. What a joke. The price is only going one way.

I didn't say I would rather be in the UK. I was merely stating that although our fuel price may be lower than yours there are lots of factors that make the price irritating to us here. I have been here coming up 3 years now and the price when I arrived was less than a dollar a litre for unleaded. It is now $1.52 p/l. That is a 50% increase in 3 years. if you had the same increase in the UK your price would currently be standing at around 1.50 GBP p/l. Now surely that would be irritating to you. As it stands your petrol price is currently around 1.09 as a UK average. not that much higher than the 95p - 1.05p p/l it was in November 2005.

Coupled with higher mortgage rates australia around 9% Uk around 7% generally our outgoings are higher here and wages are generally lower. Doesn't take a genius to work out a lot of folk are worse off living here. Don't need a smarty pants aussie wannabee taking the piss.

That might be the case but we in Australia are taxed higher than you in the UK.

Not really. Once you include NI contributions/VAT and Medicare Levy/GST, the gap begins to narrow. What you lose in one, you gain in the other.

For example, UK citizens might pay slightly less income tax, but they pay a hell of a lot more in sales tax:

UK: VAT = 17.5%
AU: GST = 10%
Which rate would you rather be paying?

There's some interesting tables at the bottom of this page. As you can see, Australia and the UK are virtually identical.

Yes, but atleast you can see where your taxes go
e.g. CAT buses in Central Perth
Intercity Trains/Trams

All we know here in the uk, is that taxes that we pay go towards getting the banks out of debt, and fueling the homeless's drug addiction.

When we were on a recci last Oct the fuel price in UK b4 we left was 87p for unleaded per litre, its now £1.10
When we were in Perth it was $1.00 per litre for diesel (not sure about petrol) so its rising no matter where you live :curse:

you are seriously deluded and must stop reading the Daily Mail immediately. If you think by moving across the world you are going to escape the things you are complaining about then you have a HUGE and I mean HUGE eye opening experience in front of you.
