Default Frivolous thread about presents

Yes, its one of those useless time-wasting threads, but I think it'll raise a laugh!

Those of you who have moved to Oz or NZ - what are the daftest/most weird pressies you've been sent?
I left the UK the week before the verdict in The Bill on Polly Page's murder case, and commented to my mum about how cross I was to miss it. I got a parcel from my mum this morning - it contains no less than EIGHT three hour tapes, all full of The Bill! :scared:

Bless her, she has taped every single episode since the beginning of November! I am now wallowing in UK Christmas adverts for such delights as Boots 3 for 2 offers, and the "Wonder of Woolies" ..... I haven't the heart to tell her they'll be on TV here in a couple of months time

She probably thought she was being really helpful. If she is anything like my mother she would have told the world that `she must go, as she HAS to do some videoing to send to her daughter in AUSTRALIA.
She has this really annoying habit of talking in capital letters and really loud so everyone in the world hears.....

Sounds like you know my mum rather well - she lives in a small Somerset town, and I think by now the entire town will know her daughter is in Oz, getting married!

My mum sent me a scarf and gloves when I was in Oz because she didn't want me getting cold. Sadly, she forgot about the opposite seasons in the southern hemisphere so I received them in February when it was 40 degrees....

She knows better now!!!

Totally. Toast, buttered and with marmalade, wrapped in foil.

Scary, I know.

That was really thoughtful of her. We haven't had any daft pressies. We received a nice gift hamper at christmas, and Chris's parents sent us both a St. Christopher to keep us safe on our travels.

I was asked to post out some yoghurt coated peanuts to a friend. They arrived when no one was home and postie left them on the doorstep. It was also 40 degrees and took a while for my friend to realise what the white sticky mess was!

Xmas presents arrived in our house from Dagboys mum & dad in UK. I looked at the customs dec & saw it was 2 books in one, 1 book in the other. My comments to Dagboy "Bet your Dad & Mum have sent me a dictionary & a book of latin phrases". Opened it up, I was wrong, I got a book on boating, Dagboy got a book (dictionary) on punctuation & a crossword of latin phrases. I still think that they put the wrong names on the presents LOL.

Weird? If you had ever met Dagboys family you would understand
