Question Frivolous Aussie Qs

Why is the opposition party spelt 'Labor' and not with a 'u', like Sydney Harbour Bridge?

Why are some place names repeated? eg Wagga Wagga or Curl Curl

Why are shopping center carpark layouts so badly designed? (eg the queue leaving blocks others arriving to park because the entry/leaving ramps are all over the place, or took us about 5 attempts to park near a certain shop even following signs because you could only get to area from 1 level)

Does the postie have to deliver mail by a certain time, or is it when ever he/she feels like it?

Why can't TV programs stick to their schedule timing? (such a pain to have to wait over 10mins after it should have started and more so when recording you watch 95% of it to not find out who dunnit)

I'm sure I had some more, might post them later if I can remember them

Feel free to add your own Qs as well as answer those posed, but remember 'frivolous' is in the title so don't get too serious

Why do you get signs saying "Only overtake when safe" - durgh - I thought I'd overtake just as a ****ing great cement lorry was coming the other way - thanks for setting me straight.

Why do they price things at $2.99 when there's no 1 cent piece?

1. Why dont they have 2c and 1c coins???

2. Why are they so obsessed with water? Be it drinking it, living on water, saving water, waters wasters, water sports, water tanks, pools???

3. Why do shops in shopping centers close at 5:00 on a Sat in queensland?

4. Why arent car dealerships open on a Sunday in Queensland?

If words are repeated then they are probably Aboriginal and it means "more than one". A wagga is a crow, so Wagga Wagga means crows. (At least that's what an Aussie motel owner told me!)

Where does the extra vowel come from in "known"? If I hear one more TV presenter saying "knowun", I think I'm going to lose it.

Why can't the bar staff in our local understand us when we ask for a "coke"

We get the same thing EVERY time the kids are with us FFS!! They normally say "Oh you're the one with the accent that can't say COKE

I think they are doing it on purpose

It was $1.25 this morning then an hour later $1.09

I've never come across a shopping centre car park like this.

Visit Morley Galleria, Tea Tea Plaza or Cannington Carousel (all in WA) for a good shopping centre experience.

Does the postie have to deliver mail by a certain time, or is it when ever he/she feels like it?
Delivery times will vary depending on the size of the postie's round and the volume of mail to be delivered. When I lived in Western Australia, I received my mail between 10 & 12. In the UK, I receive it between 8 & 10.

Why can't TV programs stick to their schedule timing? (such a pain to have to wait over 10mins after it should have started and more so when recording you watch 95% of it to not find out who dunnit)
I imagine it's for the same reason that this occasionally happens in the UK.

Talk to the petrol companies; they set the prices. The servos have to use whatever prices they're given; they have no say in it.
