Default Free country?

Did someone say Australia was a free country?
Not that I advocate nasty stuff being available on the net, but.......

No wonder the current Govt promoted high speed broadband during the election, the extra speed was to compensate for all the filters that will slow it down to what we have now.

So that's progress?

I think it's outrageous. kiddie porn one day then it will quickly be followed by sites like the piratebay, followed by UK Nova followed by any site that Sony BMG or "big business" tell the govt. to ban.

I note in the blurb that people can 'opt-out' of the filtering by contacting their ISP ... I wonder if this will truely be an uncensored feed?

It just sounds like a 'something must be done!' statement from the pollies.

I can see P2P stuff getting targetted too, must be a lot of bandwidth used there ...

Yeah "opt out" followed by a visit from the federal police as a suspected kiddie fiddler.

It's a handy way of narrowing-down the search ... there will be cells full of people that just wanted to catch up on Lost

More socialist, nanny state, big government bullshit. But then this is what Aussies voted for in KRudd. Aussies like the government intruding into their life - just like they love loads of rules, regulations, laws etc.

Can't agree that the average Aussie wants the government to intrude into their lives. Problem was they thought it was time for a change and they swallowed K R's bull sh*t.

At least WA didn't fall for it - so perhaps there's some hope.

Instead of always whinging and bitching about everything Australian, come up with some alternate solutions or if you feel that strongly, just shutup and go home!
