LOL - yes absolutely true. The bucket is shinier here and I take what is offered to me..... If you don't take advantage of what Australia is all about and change just something in your life, it won't have been worth the move... imo.

This is a good normal post. Myself and hubby expected as much just the same drum routine with the only plus being that when we garden at the weekend the sun will shine and still be shining for a trip to the beach.

Hopefully the fact that we realise life will be very much the same with work and school and work and school with the sun thrown in as a bonus will help us settle into the Oz way of life quickly.

Damn!

I thought I was going to capture the Outer Mongolia sitting on a beach market all to myself. And now the secrets out.

Slack of you I must say.
Any purpoises?
Whales?

Have to admit, my life is transformed. I've gone from a flat in S London to a big block in the 'country', there is no comparison.

There are loads of things here that were not an occurence in the UK. That's why I moved.

For me the 'shinier' moments will be seeing my niece and nephew growing up. I do not want to be 'Aunty Susan in England' who they are told to say 'Thank you' for their Christmas presents and who they may see once every 2-3 years.

I fully expect to miss many of the things I have grown accustomed to in England (some without realising). but I am planning on changing things in Australia and living life a little more to the full.

Like the post and now I'm here I can see your point - I too get up soooo much earlier here than I did in UK but the skies generally bright blue!

My other observation is that probably when you cut grass and get chance to sit and enjoy it it'll probably be fairly quiet around you ... so many people out at beach or doing some sports or something! Couldn't believe the quiet on a Sat lunchtime! (Plus grass doesn't need cutting so often so generally hear it less!)

Not sure if this is the same everywhere as you have to bear in mind I'm some 2 hrs from coast in proper rural Oz! I was in a "town" this lunchtime as I don't get any neighbours at home! (Well not without driving 6ks).

Love it and the flies!

If you lived in South Africa you would have been in constant fear of being Car Jacked and murdered and the way to school or the beach, IF you were in the UK you would have spent hours in traffic jams and it would be too cold to go to the beach and if you did it would be excrement and industrial waste you would see in the ocean not dolphins and if you were in Outer Mongolia you would proabably pick up the kids from school on horseback.
