Forest Lake?

Forest Lake?
We are thinking that the forest lake area is nice and not too far away from the CBD and people on this forum have lived there and liked it. We were just wanting to know who lives there!! ie, is it full of brits or is it a mix of Aus and Brits?? Thanks Pete.

Re: Forest Lake?
I live there and on my street we have another English couple and an old Scottish lady but the rest are Aussies and a nice bunch to.
From the places we go to gym, tavern and shopping centre etc etc there are a few Brits around but certainly in the minority.

Re: Forest Lake?
Probably not going to be to much help on this as I havent been a teenager for many a year now.
There are a couple of pubs close by in the Forest Lake Tavern and the Richlands Tavern which are OK but they are typical aussie pubs which I can only take in small doses.
I think for music and clubs they would have to head to the valley (as you would from most of the burbs).
All the best

Re: Forest Lake?
Heres a list of what I can think (although it is Monday morning).
Close to Inala but they seem to keep away from me and I do the same to them so im happy. I also lived in Fallowfield (Manchester) which is next to Moss Side and believe me Inala is a paradise compared to that place. It takes 45 mins to get to the city in the morning rush hour but thats what we can afford so thats what we have got and its what I did in Nottingham so its no different. It could do with a decent pub but the tavern is OK for the amount of time I spend there (not a great deal).
The place has a pretty good infrastructure with a large shopping centre (cafes, restaurants, supermarkets etc) a couple of gyms and the private school has a decent reputation (link attached). Regular buses which can take you into the city or other large shopping centres (Indooroopilly and Mt Omaney). The lake is a nice touch plenty of runners, walkers and families make use of it.

The older areas of the place (although even the oldest place is probably only 8 or 9 years old and usually close to the lake) probably have the bigger houses and blocks while the newer builds do tend to be pushed together but you have a choice.
It has its positive and negative points but as you say you can rent give it a go and take it from there.
Edit - Also stick the the state school report in

There seems to be alot of rentals there too, so we thought that we could rent there for six months and then buy as soon after that as poss. Pete
