Ford Territory ~ anyone got one, your thoughts
Hi all
Thinking of buying a Ford Territory, so I thought I would get some opinions off those who have/had one.
Any feedback would be good positive or negative and anything you wish you had added.
Appreciated as usual
Bill

Higher fuel consumption compared to other SUV's on the market

Don't do it. Get a Toyota or a Mitsubishi instead.

Same here. When we came over a few months ago we test drove the Territory,Prado, Kluger,Outlander and many, mamy more. We went for the Prado VX in the end and couldn't be happier. We have already enjoyed the benefits of the 8 seats and its off road capabilities.

We've had one since August 2005 and no problems whatsoever. On a lease scheme so fuel economy is not a concern for us.
It handles well, very comfortable, is incredibly quick and plenty of room inside. 7 seater so its ideal for us when visitors from overseas arrive.
We also opted for the incar dvd player so the kids are perfectly happy on long journeys.
Ford have been terrific at each of the service intervals. Very helpful and accomodating.
When we renew the lease next year we'll opt for another Territory. Other reviews that I've read have been positive and belive it was voted car of the year in 2005.

What ever is right for you mate
Since arriving we have looked at vehicles in a different light
Functionality ie the sort of seatbelt configuration (to get 3 car seats in comfortably). Storage and access capacity - bikes, camping equipment, shopping - able to get out with toddlers and shopping on wet day etc.
Towing capacity
Fuel consumption (not a big issue but a consideration non the less ie petrol versus diesel, V8 versus V6)
Street presence - lets be true if it looks like a dog would your wife want to drive it?
Safety - number of airbags and protection systems. PS airbags saved my wife so this is high on agenda - no matter how big and tough the car a brick wall or 400 year old tree is tougher. How big an accident you ask? - could not tell the type of car afterwards big.
Service - you really tell the difference after purchase so check out the service area and level of backup support. Different dealers can also give you a completely different impression so shop around too you are comfortable.

Very good build quality for an Aussie built car, it may not be as good offroad as a Toyota etc but it depends what you want to use it for.
My BIL has the new turbo model and I think it is great to drive, one of my work collegues has one as a company car and raves about it.

Not a bad vehicle but not available in diesel which is criminal in a vehicle in this class. Go for a Pajero, Prado or the new diesel Sorento (when it comes out).

We have just bought Kluger , 7 seats goes like scalder cat , and took it off road through some deep sand and coped as well as the guy behind me in his prado.
Way better than any ford , its hard to kill a toyota !
Will see how it fairs on the school run this week , that will be the real test

Didn't the car shake all its controls to pieces when tested on an unsealed corrugated road? I vaguely remember the initial reviews on release said don't take the Territory or Adventura on corrugations. Maybe they have improved. Can't see the point in the gas guzzler if it won't go off road.

Hi we had a territory for about a year. Fantastic to drive, the best I have ever driven for comfort etc. However a real juice guzzler. On the adverts it goes up and down the Sahara like a camel on steroids...............in reality we lasted 3 minutes before getting towed off the beach!!!!!! Also a few niggly things breaking etc in the car. It depends on what you use it for. Good luck!!! Ever tried a Lada??????????????????
