Anyone here know much about the football scene in Sydney? I'd like to get a few games going when I get there.

There are plenty of clubs you can join / play for.
Here is an example of a local club that is repeated all over Sydney's suburbs - http://www.northsydneysoccerclub.com.au/
Pretty easy to pop along to one of these clubs and join and have a kick around, all abilities are usually welcome. Just google for a soccer club in the suburb you will be living in.
As for watching, well I used to spend time at the North Sydney Oval watching Northern Spirit until the NSL was formed and they went under. Too be honest the NSW soccer league has always been pretty poor and usually divided along racial lines.
For example you have Sydney Olympic (Greek), Sydney United (Croatian), Marconi (Italian), Bonyyrigg White Eagles (Serbian), APIA Leichhard Tigers (another Italina team).
I would avoid the NSW soccer league, I found the quality poor and not all that welcoming, can't be bothered with all of the racial baggage that is linked with it all.
Sydney FC are worth a look, again the quality of the NSL isn't all that great.

Well at least that will cater for my skill level! I was hoping to do goals for a small club or even a six a side team, mainly just to meet new people and help with my fitness! Whereabouts in Syndey do you live? I'll be moving into Breakfast point at the end of the month!

Now that I've been here for 5 years, I get extremely confused between soccer, football and rugby, but if you're talking about good old fashioned UK football, I reckon these guys would be able to help you - or at least point you in the right direction. Its run by Paul (whos a POM, and who I think may be on here?)

If you're talking about rugby or aussie football, then I'm sorry but I don't have a clue!!
