Flights via singapore

There is obviously some history between you two, as we have seen from the links to previous post's.
Please don't detract from topic of this thread, as people like myself are looking to it for advice and tips regarding booking flights for the BIGGEST move of their lives!!!
I don't know about anyone lese but It's pretty annoying, checking a thread only to see two posters dominating it with what can only be described as petty squabbling.
If you must air your differences, maybe you could do so via PM or e-mail.
Can you please refrain for the benifit of others.
Cheers
Dom

I'm more than happy to admit that comment was perhaps a bit abrupt. It actually wasn't aimed squarely at you, but came at a time when post after post on other threads of 'it's not fair' and '
' from people not eligible for Singapore Airlines double baggage freebie...and that is what it is, something for nothing, a generous gesture on their part, for which they control access to it by visa type. SA may very well remove this offer one day then we can all stop debating it, people will just have to accept that if they must bring 40kg luggage then they have to pay for it.
I have done exactly what you did before, flew into Aus on BA with higher baggage allowance and got onto a Qantas domestic flight booked seperately....I was lucky enough to get away with it, you didn't. However if I had got stung I wouldn't be criticising Qantas for 'raining on my parade' or calling them 'bloody minded'. Much as I'm no Qantas fan they were only enforcing the contract they had with you. Yes, I know, you thought you had a verbal agreement.
Of course your advice on getting it in writing is valid, yes it's good advice but some of the others things you have said are not, IM MY OPINION. I'm not sure why you take such exception to someone questionning your advice - 'World Greatest Authority.....blah blah'. The reason people post on here is to get advice from others who have done it all before, your contibution is of course as valid as the next persons but like any post on a public forum others are allowed to disagree!

Is it only me that found that entertaining? 10 more weeks to go!!!!
PS - We are flying singapore airlines on the 9th Nov and staying over for 3 nights - we get the double baggage allowance. And you can take a pram and a car seat aswell as hand luggage!

We're travelling with Singapore Airlines at the end of August and have a two day stop-over in Singapore. I asked about the 40kg luggage allowance when I originally booked the ticket and they said it was fine.
I called again last week to reconfirm and they said again that it's fine as long as we have a visa for indefinite stay and a one way ticket. They've mentioned they'd update our records if I sent the booking reference and also a copy of our visas, which I scanned in and emailed to them yesterday. But, they said it would be fine to sort out at the airport when checking in so I'm probably just being a little over-cautious with wanting it in writing.
Hope that helps.

I have read on here that the car seats here in the UK are not legal in Australia! Apparently it affects your insurance or something
We will be taking 2 booster seats however in our luggage just incase there isn't any available when we hire the car. Uk ones are better than non at all. Just thought i'd mention it for you to look into....

Have a great stop over in Singers..If you want to get around and have a good day with no hassles, go to Clark Quay. You can walk around the whole quay with your stroller/pram, catch a boat, train or bus or even taxi. Many hotels have free bus transport to Clark Quay. At night it is a bustling eating spot all lit up with fairy lights and all. There's some new shopping complexes too and one near the Merchant Court Swiss hotel has a great clean eatery on the 2nd or 3rd floor (mainly Asian food and extremely affordable)The hotel buses usually park near there.
Have a safe trip..watch out for those Giraffes!!
