Hi

Does anyone know of anywhere that we can get decent priced flights back to UK for our jollies. About had a heart attack when I looked at the prices. Isn't there an ebookers of Oz type thing?

Help or I'll never see my mummy again.....................

thanks
Diane
Hi there,

It may work out cheaper flying out to somewhere like Malaysia or Singapore, Bali or Hawaii first, then booking a flight from there to the UK. It's just an idea....Alternative is to go to the airport and try and get one of the late tickets. It may mean sitting separately from your partner, but it will save a packet.

Good luck.

Sorry this may work in the UK but it won't out here. They don't do standby flight here. If you just turn up at the airport and try for a flight all you'll get is one FULL FARE.
Don't know what the theory is behind this but it would seem they would sooner fly with empty seats than give last minute reductions.

We can agree on this Pal , my wife was quoted more to fly one way $2040 than a return $1800 on the same flight I am going on.
If you fly during day light hours in the week to any city in Australia from Perth its upto 3 times the cost of night or weekend flights .
The market here is small and gets ripped off.

There are no standby flights in the UK now, either. May be something to do with security - avoiding extra hundred or thousands of people milling round without tickets. Chances are you wouldn't get much of a reduction anyway. After all, you've gone to the airport (that's often a not insignificant effort) to get a flight, if they have a spare seat why not charge you the full whack?

Has anyone tried getting “back to back flights from the UK to Oz i.e:-

UK – Oz --------|
Oz – UK ----| |
| |
UK – Oz ----| |
Oz – UK------- --|

You buy 2 x return tickets. The first one from UK to Oz, returning sometime in the future, and then you buy a Oz to UK return, in between the first return. You used to be able to do this in the UK to get much cheaper flights, but not sure if it would work fro Oz.
