Hello, just had our first Xmas in Oz. Totally different, really good and a bit sad.
Woke up to bright sunshine, and after opening prezzies went down to the beach for our lunch. Packed a picnic, lots of picky bits, dips and fruit. Really nice. We then took Miss R onto the beach where we had about 3 hours digging and testing Mr R's new body board off Santa.
Came home and got ready for our Xmas dinner. Cold meat with loads of salads, eaten outside on the verrandah. A few cold stubbies to wash it all down, and the perfect end to a very nice day.
Mrs R had a few tears on the beach as she was missing her family, but spoke to them later on in the evening on the web cam.
Hope everyone else had a lovely Christmas wherever you spent it.

You beat me to it. I was just about to post about our first Christmas here.
You sound like you had a good day. It is bound to be emotional the first Christmas away from home, missing family and tradition of Christmas. Web cam is brilliant.
It was our baby's first Christmas and we opened his presents with him on web cam with Tim's family back home. We then relaxed in the paddling pool and my sister and her partner came round for lunch. We had a roast dinner, that I had prepared the night before and just needed putting in the oven. We ate it outside and just as we finished a big storm came over. We spent the evening at my aunt's house, with friends and family.
All in all a great day.

This was the third time we have celebrated christmas here in Perth and it still feels very strange to me. This year we had Micks sister and her kids here. We live within walking distance of the beach so we poodled down there for a couple of hours, then back to put the dinner on. Sat in the spa drinking non-alchoholic wine (we were all driving) then nipped over to my cousins in the evening. Very quiet and 'calm' day!!!
