I am not sure whether you English one will do however I am studing for my Cert III in childcare and the level of 1st aid depends on the state. I'm in Victoria so will need the advanced 1st aid qualification.

You can register with the local council and they offer courses and get you linked up with other childminders so you can do things together.

Good luck

UK first aid will suffice when you arrive.

In Victoria, you have to do first aid every 3 years (2 days), CPR training annually, and anawhatsit training (evening, tonight actually) for peanuts every year.

On the first aid you get taught how to use the portable defibs - 'stand clear, shocking', bang!! Apparently they have them everywhere here.

Wife is NNEB who is recognised as a qualified childcare worker here, hence, my knowledge.
