Re: Fireworks night!
Not Guy Fawkes no - most Aussies will never have heard of bonfire night!
Fireworks are very restricted here in Aus and generally only on sale around the Queens Birthday time (June, not April). Even then, back yard bonfires are getting to be a bit of a thing of the past because of all the horrific injuries wrought by fireworks every year. We do do very good and impressive firework displays though but you can go into firework overload after a few of them.

And if you live in Canberra, we have Canberra Day!
Gosh, does Aus really open at 5am? I did wonder about that but I am usually asleep so have no idea what goes on then
At least our supermarkets dont shut at 4 on a Sunday afternoon (how stupid is that?!)

Re: Fireworks night!
There is Australia Day celebrations on the 26th January, a public holiday and just about everyone gets involved.
Anzac Day, 25th April, where we pay our respects to those who lost their lives fighting for Australia, another reason to celebrate, our freedom.
Then there are the individual States holidays like Labour Day, Foundation Day, Queens birthday.
Any excuse for a celebration will do in Australia.
