Having owned / used a petrol chain saw, I find this 1) quite funny, but also 2) quite worrying.

You're obv here to tell the tale so as you were.

I might be naive and slighty stupid for saying this here but isn't this just the same as fireworks?
$100 still seems alot for something you're going to burn anyway

Right, slightly late but as I have just spent some time clearing a fairly large fallen tree with the chainsaw working a-ok, it's a McCullough.

Does the job for me but doubtless there are more 'serious' beasts out there

Just stumbled across this : http://ezinearticles.com/?Stihl-Chai...ices&id=860595

I can recommend getting one, much fun ... or two for the classic Movie Twin-Pistol Gunfighter look.

McCulluogh is owned and made by Husqvarna so it should be okay.

I dont know a lot about chainsaws.... how do you know if the chain is worn out rather than blunt ?

I cut up some red gum stumps that had a bit of mud on them and hopefully the chain is just blunt rather than wrecked ?

My Chainsaw 14/15 inches of electric Ryobi rubbish... did the job till the chain went blunt

I guess when there's nothing left to sharpen it's worn out.

Sounds nadgered. May as well take it down the shop and get their opinion.
