After accepting an offer for £10k under the asking price back in July and numerous problems along the way, we finally exchanged today with completion due on 20th Feb. We've booked the shippers for 15th Feb and our cat goes to Golden Arrow on 13th Feb and flies on 15th feb as well.
We're hoping to fly to Melbourne on 21st Feb stopping in Dubai for 3 nights on the way.
I should be jumping up and down with delight but all I feel at the moment is resentment to our buyer because we dropped the price for a quick move!! (they are renting so no chain involved) and fearful :scared: of whats ahead.
My other half is really looking forward to the move and so was I up until recently now I think I'm turning into a jiberring girlie wreck
I gave up smoking in August and haven't touched one since (god knows how) however I have now found another addiction in the form of alcohol
That reminds me my wines getting warm
Scared Laney :scared:

Hi Laney
Well done on exchanging!
Don't be resentful, just look at this as the start of your new adventure!
I always thought alcohol addiction was compulsory on this site!
We're still waiting to hear about the survey on our house and then hubby has to work his notice so we won't be getting out of here until early May so at least you have an advantage over some of us!
Good luck with everything.

Good luck!
Don't feel resentful turn it to a positive.
You could be still trying to sell, you'll be laughing when you are here and they are still there in the UK. Wouldn't you try to 'get a bargain if you were buying your house?
Look forward, not back and think about the fun to come. Yes it's really scary leaving behind things that are familiar and it's natural to be a wreck!
We came out without jobs with 2 young kids, it's scary but we said we had to treat it as a big adventure. We have and it's our home.
Stay off the ciggies!
I have been known to have the odd one at party's but think of the money you save when you don't smoke.
Good wine is cheaper here as well, our local wine shop lets us know when they are running low on our fave and puts a box aside for us ...that's a bit worrying isn't it!

Thanks for your replies. I know I'm not alone feeling scared leaving all the familiar things behind (I've never moved out of the area and until November worked at the same place for 20 years from trainee to manager :scared: )
Time for a change eh? and where better to make a new start.
