Facilities at Singapore Airport when in Transit!!
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what facilities there are at Singapore Airport for when you are stuck in Transit!!
With two young kids just wondered if there is anything there to keep them occupied at all?? Also what is there for us Adults??
Any Duty free shops or anything?? What currency do you need for when you are at Singapore?? Or did you just use your card??
Any help gratefully received!!

Singapore Changi Airport is amazing - the best airport to be landing at en route to Australia. There is plenty for the children to do and you will find a wonderful foodhall, toy shops, well priced supermarket and bar on the top floor. There is a swimming pool and a roof terrace garden as well as a free cinema. Lots of wonderful areas all around - enjoy.

would recommend the transit hotel if you have a long wait between flights.
you can book direct on the airport website.

we had 5 hrs each way in Singapore Airport in May. Brilliant all the time!!
You can fit in a free 2 hr tour round Singapore if you like (we didn't as dark both times!) or have a shower etc for just £8 each, plus free nibbles, soft drinks. If kids old enough for PS2 and all that, then theres that too, free.
As said before good food hall, plenty of shopping, expensive to cheap toys you name it!
My kids are 3 and 5 and would love just watching beautiful koi fish and airplanes for at least 1 hr!!
Need singapore dollars - plenty of bureau to change and cash points and most shops take cards but not all on to PIN yet. (We had to buy an extra suitcase for all our shopping - plus you get 10% back on VAT claim/GSP claim)

When our 2 year old got really bored we took him back and forth on the train between terminals! (sad I know!)

Aus doesn't use chip'n'pin either, you don't need it - just use the credit card the old way, with the signature.
Everywhere in Changi takes plastic I think - its much easier for an airport than worrying about different currencies. Good shops, god bars/cafes, and its so big and spacious, thats what I like about it - plenty of room without flling over other travellers. Be warned if you do use notes to pay - most places will take £ or $ but your change will be in Singapore currency.
Its a lovely airport - hope you enjoy it

Ditto everything here. Best airport I've ever been to.
Relaxed, spotlessly clean. Pools with koi carp, great amusement/games area, etc. etc. The hotel is actually encompassed into the airport, so there's no going out into the humidity hopping on/off transit buses etc.
Don't bother staying in Singapore itself if you're just wanting to recharge your batteries. Just book all your luggage in straight through to Oz, and take on hand luggage for the overnighter at the airport hotel. Too easy.

slightly cheaper alternative to the transit hotel is to go to one of the lounges, this it's about $45per person and that gets you a shower, all you can eat finger food and free drinks. I normally have about 5-6 hours in singapore and have always checked into a lounge for 4 (v v comfy seats as well) and then had a wander about for a bit before boarding again.
i'll be in singapore airport in in 27 hours!!
