Default Extension to initial entry date

Hi there,

Has anyone tried to get an extension to the initial entry date by when you need to activate your visa.

We have to activate by early March but are having a nightmare selling the house (familiar story). If we don't sell in the next 6 weeks, then we'll probably have to look at flying over for a holiday which we can't really afford.

Just wondering if anyone had tried phoning up and grovelling to get a few more months b4 activation. If so, did you succeed and what excuses did you use.

Any views ?

Hi D& J

Can't say I've ever heard of anyone successfully getting an extension. If you can't afford to validate how about giving someone you trust power of attorney to sell your house for you. I do know of several people who have gone down this route and also couples who have both arrived then one returned to deal with the house sale.

Sorry I can't be more help

Debbie

I think the answer to this is that its not going to happen. You MUST enter before that date or it will expire. I would not really advise phoning immigration and lying as to why you cant. Sorry to not be more positive.

As above, you can sell your house from Australia but thats also a gamble.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi

Our visa grant letter says (and this is underlined)

"It is not legally permissable for me to alter this date following visa grant"

Sorry
