existing medical records
does anybody know what happens, or what we do about our existing records based in the uk. should we get copies, originals, to take with us?
has anybody done anything about this?

Hi
We were advised to have copies done and bring them with us. Have not had to use them yet, been here 6 months. Can't at the moment, see why we would need them.
Don't know whether it was necessary to be honest. If you have a problem over here and have to go to the docs - they just ask you if its happened before then make their own decisions anyway. Of course, if you have had a major illness or something - perhaps you would need them then.
Perhaps someone else on here has the answer you need?

Re: existing medical records
We were told ( before we came out) that our medical records are property of the government and we could not take the originals with us ( they get kept by your GP for a certain amount of time, before being sent to a 'central record' place...can't remember the exact terminology..) but we could have photocopies...at a cost of 60p per page!!!! :scared: Bloody cheek!
As it happens, an old family friend worked in our surgery and did it on the sly for us, gratis.
