Default exchange rates

If the bank of England drop the interest rate as is expected this week. How will this effect the exchange rate if at all?
Regards Chris

Well, don't need anything too sophisticated here: schoolboy economics tells us that if UK interest rates go down the, all other things being equal, the pound will weaken, and you'll get less AUD for your GBP.

Unexpected events such aas this will cause a sudden drop in the value of the £ as investors seek "safe havens". This is almost always a short term reaction though and economic fundementals will play a more important role longer term.
