Why dont you just switch straight to Au$ from Euros it will save you any commision and exchange spread.

Thanks Mike,

We actually benefit due to a fixed rate for pay at €1.4 to £ so we are very lucky as its currently 1.31. Unfortunately we are only here for two more months so only a small spread but better than nothing.

Thanks for support,

Cheryl

Browns mismangement coming home to roost now !! + OZ economy strong + US economy weak.

Depressing

How can it be Gordon Brown's mismangement? UK interest rates are on the way down, an overheating Australian economy means their interest rates are on the way up and is thus reflected in the exchange rate.

Try doing a bit of research.

UK rates are on the way down, not because of Brown, but because of greedy U.S. Banks making silly mortgage loans to people who cant pay, causing a major crisis among the Banking industry and plunging the U.S. along with U.K. economy into recession.
Rates have been cut in the UK to try and avoid the worst effects of the recession.

Unlikely to improve until there is a prospect of Oz interest rates falling, which is generally dependent on how low inflation is.
All this Dosh flooding into Oz from all you rich U.K. expats is helping to push up inflation plus the mining boom.

Cant and wont argue with that, U.K. joined this club called the EU many years ago and turned their backs on their former colonies and the cheap food available, then to subsidise the French farmers and now just about every other bugger as well, it has some good points but now we take everyones crap and pay for the privilege.
someones just decided the Aussies have a good idea so now when its too late they do the same, (the points system and what it is to be British) whatever that means anymore.

Gordon was one of the many reasons we left the UK. That guy will go down in history as the person that caused the most damage to the UK economy full stop.

I see the latest thing is the pensions black hole. Sounds very similar to the endowment fiasco. Glad I'm out of it.

On pensions, at least here if you spend a life time paying in and then you and the missus get flattened by a bus, your kids get it. Guess who gets it in the UK.

Mike.

I've done very nicely under New Labour thank you.....and so have most of my family and friends.

Most of us will also vote for them in the next election.

IMO The UK has never been better.
