Default Exam results

Our 16 year old has just had his Victoria exam results year 10 and has passed all of them including getting an A* Science and A maths. Considering that we only arrived here October it just goes to show that there is a similar level between Victoria and the IB that he was studying before. He sat his exams in June and got all A, A* and the odd B so it is comforting to know that he will go into his final 2 VCE years without having to catch up with his peers.
It was something that we worried about moving him from the UK to Belgium then to OZ, it doesn't seem to have affected him academically at all and he isn't the most motivated learner .

We were taking these exams with a pinch of salt expecting him to have to catch up more next year but these were good so it looks like he has just slotted in. He doesn't do revision or anything above the bare minimum so it was amusing to see the comments from teachers sayign that he obviously had a thorough revision plan (Yeah not to do any ). The big difference that he has found here is that year 10 is the first experience that most of the kids have had at serious essay writing for exams and he has been doing this for the past 3 years. So it looks like he should be fine with his VCE next year and the teachers are more than happy for him to do advanced maths etc.
Right at the moment he is enjoying the social side of the move and is hardly ever here or when he is he is here we find him and various friends here in the morning so I can't complain about him fitting in. It was a worry as he was determined not to come when we first found out about this job. All we need now is for some Aussie girl to sweep him off his feet and help him to forget about his girlfriend in Belgium .

Thanks yes he has done really well, he did really well in his end of year exams in Belgium but it is good to see that the move hasn't affected him badly. It is always difficult when you are moving with kids and people spend a lot of time agonising over when is the best time, will they be affecting their studies etc. Personally I would say go for it as we have found the system here excellent and kids really do cope very well with it all.
