Default Ex Forces

Are there any Ex Forces clubs, RBL in the Perth area? Relocating to Perth in mid/late April and would love to be a part of any clubs that maybe around.
Cheers

look up RSL in the phonebook, thats the Returned Services League. They are usually very welcoming of ex British forces, I know when I used the St Kilda one in Melbourne they made me feel welcome.

Yes most suburbs have an RSL (returned servicemans league). They are a bit like the British legion but a bit more friendly.

I've just joined my local (Darlings Range) branch in Kalamunda and there's quite a lot of Poms get in there.

The RSL's in Perth don't match those in NSW or Queensland which are huge organisations with restaurants, gambling anfd entertainment.

Yep RSLs are great and very welcoming of ex British Forces.

Some of them are incredible (Kirribili in Sydney) and I laugh when I compare them to the clubs like the Sappers club at home.

The only comment I would make about RSL's is that yes they can be huge places and quite plush, but, they can also sometimes be a bit soul less and quite depressing.
I have been to a few nice ones (Balgowlah RSL is quite nice) and some busy ones (Bulli RSL) but some absolutely dire ones (Shoalhaven Ex Servicemans). I was in the Shoalhaven last night, 3 of us walked in at 9pm and we were the only 3 there!! The barman was gutted as they were going to close until we came in, I asked how long they were open for and he stated,'probably close in 30 mins unless you go and play the pokies'.
I have never seen them as friendly or close knit as the RBL's I have been to in UK but the one thing I admire about all of them is bang on 6pm all music/TV goes off and everyone stands and observes a respectful silence as the words of rememberance are quoted.
I hate the pokies and can't understand how people sit in there all night throwing their money away, but, thats how the clubs make their money....and they make a LOT!!
