Complete the form noted above, and you should receive your NHS pension tax free.

Best regards.
thanks that's good to know xx

Interesting in that I currently receive two UK pensions, one HM Forces at my retirement rate and one War Pension which is at a scaled rate and is Non Taxable in UK due to its nature. I wonder if I declare it in Oz will they acknowledge its Non Taxable status.

As I'm sure you know, not taxable in the UK does not necessarily equate to not taxable in Australia ...

Best regards.

Well thats just it, I don't know. A UK War Pension is awarded for injuries suffered during active service and is non pensionable for whatever reasons best known to themselves, my rationale is that its a 'you've suffered enough old bean lets not make this any worse for you'.
Ethically it would seem unjust for another government to not take that into account but it appears as if the word 'ethical' is illegal in Australia!

Ethics has nothing to do with it ... Australia as a sovereign nation has the right to tax its residents as it sees fit, irrespective of how other countries choose to operate their tax systems.

Best regards.

Oh I get that, I understand that they tax as they see fit to bring in revenue......its just a thought process I am going through, 'will they won't they' and knowing Oz bureacracy like I do they will simply because they are not allowed to say 'don't know'.....again a word/term probably not allowed in Oz. I am being tongue in cheek of course but, not entirely sure any 'reciprocal arrangements' are respected by Oz. Its only a perception not factual.
Its like the school fees charged to overseas students in NSW, the UN states that all school children should be entitled to free schooling under the age of 14 even if only a temporary member of the state, but oh no, not NSW Education Authority...they ignore all that old fashioned UN rubbish.
I am ranting a bit here and obvious completely biased, but they get me so angry sometimes I could rip a tissue!!
