A lot of old boys say that, but how would you measure up to today's soldiers. They take longer to train due to the amount of high tech equipment they have to learn to operate. They are as good now as they have ever been. They know what they want and what they are entitled to.
I agree, a career in the forces is not for everyone. I for one was glad to see a lot of the dinosaurs leave. The old ways are not always the best.

Anyway I've had enough of this petty bickering with someone that is obviously bluffing his case as he could not hack staying in long enough to get a half pension.

Not knowing what the new equipment is proves you are behind the times, especially as a lot of it has been on the news in recent years.
This sentence proves how out of date you are considering recruits have had quilts for about 8 years and trained soldiers have been allowed to use their own for over 25 years.

AG Corps is it, or would it be catering in the RLC?
I can tell you categorically, that recruits in the Parachute Regiment DO NOT, never have had and probably never will, get quilts! FFS!
Yes, once I had my red beret, I too was allowed a quilt on my bed. Once I had my wings, I could take a quilt into the field if I was willing to carry it!
Bluffing my case? Phhhffft! Loser!
Left the forces after 8 and a half years because I was sick to the high teeth of conflict, of seeing people I knew, suffer, seeing their families suffer. Of suffering myself through it. Sick of never seeing my (ex) wife and daughter. Sick of the low pay, low morale, poor equipment, the bullshit, the arse accommodation. Sick of making friends and then losing them through postings, tours etc......
So, who's the idiot? DO tell?

Sorry the sympathy vote does not work. Some of that is true today but not in your day with only NI and a few other little bits and bobs. You did 8 1/2 yrs. Obviously a one medal wonder with a dash of NI experience from the inside of a stores. Never mind stick with the truck driving, its on your level.

In answer to your last question - YOU.

Truth hurts
As for being a Corpsman your so good at Intelligence you tell me.
Take a drive up to Catterick and chew on the quilts in the Para Depot.
A 'Red' beret. Only a non Para would say that as its Maroon ie the maroon and green machine - relating to paras and marines. A red beret denotes Royal Military Police. Now I know why you got out.
Proved.

No, seriously, If I dared respond to this post any further, I would be banned from this site, something I don't wish to happen - suffice to say, you have made me madder than I have been in some time! Congratulate yourself, you prick! I don't need to justify myself to you - you are nothing!
Incidentally, I left her.

Only NI and a few other little bits n bobs?????? Shows how little you know about the army's past conflicts. What about the ones that even YOU don't know about? Thought you were the intelligence expert?

[QUOTE=FluffyTheCampfireSlayer;4317044]Predictable Tosser!

Hmmm.. I see the old "our mob is better than your mob" mentality is still abundant ... and we are harder than you are still seems to lurk in the mindset....
Reminds me of a time long ago when nice guys stood up for women on buses and took their hats off indoors....( the guys not the women!)
It was in the big ( was then anyway) NAFFI in Aldershot and as usual a Pirbright Guards mob were in their group and the Para's were in their group bantering each other.
After a while in the queue for more booze I mentioned to a Para that one of the Guards was heard going on about Para's needing the RAF and parachutes cos they were too thick to be trusted driving any vehicles to get there themselves!
(This was in my day a standard bit of inter mob p**s taking which probably still goes on.)
Anyway, the guy went back to the Para's and must have said something cos next thing I knew they all got up and set about the guards with gusto!
In what seemed like just a few minutes teh MP came bounding in blowing their silly whistles and yelling...next thing there was an almighty bang and we thought it was a grenade going off.
Turned out to be a Thunderflash dropped in the bog pan and a waste bin on the seat to keep the lid down.
All good stuff to us spectators really.
Funny thing is... I once saw a Guardsman getting a kicking from some civvies and a bunch of Para's waded in and sorted them out..thus saving the Guardsman.
Now what does that tell you?

Nice stories them. They made me chuckle. Guards are for guarding like stores are for storing.
Now what does that tell you? - That you can never bluff a bluffer.
