Is everyone in Brisbane still in one piece?
Really shocking weather last night & this morning, there's a severe weather warning out for the rest of today as well for Brisbane & the SE corner of the state -
We have a sheet of roofing iron starting to lift at the front, nothing much we can do about it, just hope that it holds. Garden furniture has ended up in the pool, door to our shed had been lifted off its hinges (I'm talking a 3mx2m solid metal door :scared: ), a 3mx3m garden shed blown over & everything on the verandah blown around but so far nothing major.
Bonus is that so far we havent lost power - crossed fingers that that doesn't happen.
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for Damaging Winds
for people in The Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Wide Bay and Burnett and
Southeast Coast districts
Issued at 4:35 am on Saturday 17 September 2005
Synoptic Situation: A deep low pressure system is developing off the NSW coast
and is generating strong to gale force west to southwest winds over Southeast
Queensland.
These winds will ease late this afternoon as the low rapidly moves towards the
east. The wind gusts will cause fallen trees and powerlines and light structural
damage.
The State Emergency Service advises that people in the affected area should:
- seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees
- secure loose outdoor items
- beware of fallen trees and powerlines
Contact the SES, listed under either State Emergency Service or your local
council in the White Pages, for emergency assistance if required.

Bloody hell :scared: That's not good. That's a big door
Hope you're all ok over there. Presumably there will be a lot of power lines down so people probably not on here anyway.
Stay safe.

Re: Is everyone in Brisbane still in one piece?
Yep, Im betting that either everyone has slept in bigtime or powerlines are down .
MP, certainly is a big door, that one on the big shed that was propped open, its now lying on the ground :scared: .
Worse part is that with the house in the state its in right now, none of the windows shut properly, so they are all blowing open & shut constantly, a bit like living with a poltergeist . Dagboy had to resort to masking tape to try to tape them shut to stop them banging all last night as we couldnt get to sleep. And the rest of the windows are louvres which don't shut or the glass is missing, so the wind is howlin through the place - feels a bit like living in Siberia .

Gold Coast - Coomera area is windy, but sounds worse than it has done damage though. A few kids toys blown into the wall - tent, sand pit lid ect...nothing strong enough to move even fairly lightweight furniture though. Power was down this morning for about 20 mins - all back now. Winds dying right down here now too.

This could have something to do with it.

Got to go and dig out the pool now. Full of f***ing leaves from the neighbour's f***ing trees. Being the caring and sharing type that I am, I'll return them!

Looks like we are lucky then - next door to Carina but still have power. Our pool is full of leaves too - as well as the outdoor furniture .

Very windy here - max gust at the airport has been 87km, and we are on a hill overlooking it, so I reckon we've had higher than that. Also got the same problem as the Dagboys, windows that blow open in the middle of the night.

we're in Munruben and by the sounds of it lucky to not be near the coast. We're getting very strong winds but nothing damaged...so far (Thank God)
Hope it dies down soon!
